The carnivorous diet is an extremely restrictive diet, based almost exclusively on animal products.

Basically, it is a stricter variant of the diet KetoTypes and diet Low-Carb, completely eliminating carbohydrates and plants.

The basic idea: consumption meat, fish, eggs and some dairy products, avoiding vegetables, fruits, cereals and legumes.

What foods are allowed in the Carnivorous diet? 🥩🍖🐟

Recommended foods:

  • Red meat (beef, lamb, pork)
  • White meat (chicken, turkey)
  • Fish and seafood
  • Eggs
  • Whole milk (matured cheeses, butter, fatty cream)
  • Organs (liver, kidney, heart — rich in micronutrients)
  • Water, black coffee, simple tea (optional, but some followers completely eliminate them)

Prohibited foods:

  • All fruits and vegetables
  • Cereals and legumes
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Sugar and sweets
  • Processed products (with additives, commercial sausages)

Proponents of this diet mention several benefits:

  • Stable energyd ue to the lack of fluctuations in blood sugar
  • 🧠 Possible positive effect on mental clarity
  • 🔥 Decreased inflammation (especially in those with food sensitivities)
  • ⚖️ Fast weight loss, similar to or more intense than on Keto
  • 🦴 High protein intake → supports muscle mass

Risks and Disadvantages ⚠️

Being an extremely restrictive diet, there are also issues to consider:

  • Lack of fiber→ constipation, digestive problems
  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies(vitamin C, K, magnesium, potassium)
  • Increased LDL cholesterol in some people
  • ❌ Long-term risks to cardiovascular health (still under debate)

Who is it recommended for? 👥

  • People with autoimmune diseasesor chronic inflammation, as a short-term experiment
  • Those who have tried other diets (ex: Keto, Low-Carb) and had no results
  • People who tolerate animal fats and proteins very well

For how long can it be held? ⏳

  • Many specialists recommend testing only short-term (30—90 days).
  • It is not a diet thought like permanent lifestylebecause essential nutrients are missing.

Carnivorous Diet and Sport 🏋️ ‍ ♂️

  • It can provide enough energy for strength and weight training.
  • In contrast, performance in Endurance sports(marathon, cycling) can significantly decrease due to lack of carbohydrates.

Carnivorous Diet and Intermittent Fasting ⏳🥩

Some combine it with intermittent fastingto accelerate weight loss.

  • Advantage: proteins and fats induce satiety, so it's easier to comply with the fasting window.
  • Disadvantage: In the long run, the combination can lead to faster nutritional deficiencies.

That's right. In the strict form, the diet completely excludes plants. But there are “flexible” variants where some include eggs and high-fat dairy.
