Mounjaro (tirzepatide) works by mimicking two intestinal hormones: GLP-1 and GIP, which makes it more effective in certain cases than semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy). It has been approved for type 2 diabetes, but it is used off-label and for weight loss.
Differences from Ozempic/Wegovy:
- Dual Action (GLP-1 + GIP)
- Can provide greater weight loss
- Can improve more effectively insulin resistance
Administration:
- Weekly injection.
- Doses between 2.5 mg and 15 mg, progressively adjusted.
Caution:
Efficacy is proven in clinical trials, but it is a treatment requiring strict medical supervision. Not recommended for aesthetic or unsupervised use.
